Let’s get to know Zunaid Amin
That’s quite an introduction, Ahmed! We would love to get to know Zunaid even better. That’s why we asked him some questions about his work and his passion for WordPress:
Hi, Zunaid! What do you do?
Previously, I worked as a Senior Web IT Specialist at Hostinger, where I gained extensive experience in web hosting. Currently, I work as a WordPress Engineer at Rocket.Net, specializing in resolving WordPress and web hosting-related issues. My responsibilities include addressing server alerts to maintain stable server status and ensuring a seamless user experience for our clients.
Why do you think you got nominated?
I believe I was nominated for my persistent efforts to contribute to the WordPress ecosystem. My primary focus has been on testing beta releases and providing detailed test reports to track tickets, which aids in the development of WordPress Core. Additionally, I have been actively involved with the Docs and Training teams, always striving to support the community in various activities/events.
Why did you start contributing? Could you share your first contribution with us?
Upon joining Rocket.Net, I was inspired by my highly talented colleagues to enhance my contributions to the company and the broader WordPress community.
Seeking ways to contribute after office hours, I discovered the potential of contributing to WordPress. Rocket.Net is a Managed WordPress Company, which aligns perfectly with my professional focus. At that time, I created my WordPress account and joined the Making WordPress Slack Channel, initially feeling overwhelmed by the various channels and discussions.
Encouraged by Tor-Bjorn Fjellner, I began providing test reports, which marked the beginning of my contributions to Core. With Colin Stewart’s guidance, I successfully submitted a test report for a ticket related to WordPress’s Filesystem API. My journey as a Core contributor began with WordPress 6.3.
What does WordPress look like in your perfect world?
In my perfect world, WordPress would offer a more bug-free experience to end users. My vision for WordPress is to make it faster, more stable, and unique, ensuring it remains a reliable and innovative platform for everyone.
What would you love to do in the future?
In the future, I aspire to attain a position where I can address more critical issues within WordPress Core. Moreover, I aim to have the authority to resolve significant problems promptly, ensuring that essential fixes are implemented swiftly and efficiently without unnecessary delays.
Who is your WordPress mentor?
Colin Stewart has been a pivotal mentor in my WordPress journey. As a Core committer and Triage Lead for WordPress 6.0 and 6.2, as well as a maintainer of the Upgrade/Install and Filesystem API components, he provided invaluable guidance when I was starting to contribute to Core. His mentorship and support have been instrumental in my development as a contributor.
Additionally, my boss, Ben Gabler – Founder & CEO of Rocket.Net, has been a significant source of motivation and support. His encouragement and sponsorship of multiple WordCamps, such as WordCamp Nepal 2024, WordCamp Asia 2024, and WordCamp Sylhet 2024, have been crucial in my ongoing contributions to WordPress.
Ahmed Kabir Chaion – A noteworthy Contributor who nominated me, also played a crucial role by guiding me on how to become more involved in my local WordPress community. His advice on participating in WordPress Meetups has helped me engage more actively with the community.
Where can people find you? Online, WordCamps, other meetups?
You can find me at various WordCamps around the world. If my visa is approved, I will attend WordCamp US 2024. Furthermore, I will also attend WordCamp Asia 2025 since I was also selected to be the Organizer for the event. Hopefully, I will make it an amazing event for all the WordPress enthusiasts out there!
I am pretty active on platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn. I would love to connect with you!
