Tyler Nguyen
Hi there, welcome to my bio page! My name is Tyler. I joined Yoast in 2022 as a content manager, and now I'm a Growth marketer with a focus on conversion rate optimization. I was born and raised in the capital city of Vietnam – Hanoi. You might not know, but my real name is not Tyler. It is actually “Hoang Anh”, which is a very an uncommon, and definitely hard-to-pronounce name :D. That's why I took up the name Tyler. Also because my nickname at school/university starts with a T, and Tyler somehow seems like a good fit for me :D
I was fortunate enough to be able to purse higher education in a foreign, advanced country. In autumn 2015, I arrived in Arnhem, fresh, naïve and full of life. In the blink of an eye, the year is already 2023! It’s been 8 years and I’m still wondering why I didn’t study Dutch properly ☹.
I did my bachelor study at the HAN in Arnhem and graduated in 2020. My background is digital marketing, namely – analytics, social media marketing, and some very basic SEO as well. As a starter in digital marketing, I was doing a bit of everything working for a startup firm in Vietnam. I gained more knowledge and understanding of the importance of SEO for businesses during that time. This lead to me wanting to develop myself in the field of SEO.
At around the same time, I thought I wanted to write more because I was feeling “uncreative”. I thought writing can help stimulate my mind and allow me to think (and feel) more creatively. Luckily, I was able to find job with an SEO plug-in maker as a content writer! (yay!). After a year working as content manager, producing and optimizing some amazing content, I’ve moved to the Growth team and now focusing on conversion rate optimization.
Although I’ve lived in the Netherlands for about 8 years now, I think my life journey in this beautiful country (in the summer at least) is only just beginning. That, partly, is thank to Yoast for allowing me this wonderful job opportunity, and my colleague Amy for referring me. If you think about it, it’s pretty interesting where life takes you. Amy and I actually studied in the same class, worked in the same project together, and then worked together in the same team years later!
Other than work stuff, these days I’m pretty interested in photography, videography. I used to play football and do weight training, but ever since the lockdown, I switch to “watching” football and weight training instead of actually doing them :D (Manchester United fan here if you do watch football). Next to that, food is another big part of my life. If we speak in person, I’ll tell you how Vietnamese actually make “loempia”!!
