Martijn van der Klis

After graduating in Artificial Intelligence, I started my career as a software engineer. However, since then I’ve moved to the more theoretical side of things, first as a scientific programmer at Utrecht University, and currently I’m finishing up my PhD thesis on cross-linguistic variation in tense use there. At Yoast, I will start applying my accumulated knowledge once again. Specifically, I intend to enhance the readability analysis in Yoast SEO through implementing the latest academic research.

In my spare time, I love playing draughts: a game with simple rules, but so much complexity and beauty once you get the hang of it. I’m also picking up running and love to go cycling (but actually, I like watching pro cyclists even more…).
